Welcome to Flinn Engineering! I decided to start this blog after spending years in the broadcast industry solving all sorts of problems. But one of the main reasons that really drove me to blogging was doing research and then designing our church's HDTV broadcast facility. I found it both odd and crazy that there was very little information out here on the web in one place on how to help churches get into either SD/HD TV, designing HD graphics, LPFM radio or streaming. Oh sure, there's a great deal of info in magazines and on the web if you're a massive church with $250,000.00 to spend, but what if you're not? What about most of the churches out there with anywhere from 500 to 3500+ members and not a lot of money to spend? How do you get started? What do you need to do in order to build a working network, a studio, LPFM, video production, TV broadcast or streaming system? What if you just want to record the service on a DVD for shut-ins?
Whether your budget is on a shoe string or you have piles of money to work with; software, equipment and operational costs are always a concern. I'll tackle these issues along with my experiences over the years within these various fields. And don't be shy to add in your two cents and experience as well. The more minds and ideas the better! As my father use to say, "There are no stupid questions, just stupid people that don't ask questions."
So lets say we get started!!

I've been doing broadcast engineering, video production, radio broadcasting and all sorts of odd engineering builds for over 30 years. This blog was created to help people understand and get their own studio, TV broadcast, LPFM radio station or streaming system off the ground.
